I have known Ben from BATEK since April 2017. As a newbie franchisee, adapting to existing systems and protocols the learning curve was steep. Thus my introduction to Ben was born at a critical point in the life cycle of a new business. Ben's patience at that moment proved to have no end. Ben's understanding of the Leather Doctor business system proved to be a vital component in this process. Ben exercised care, calm communication at all times. He proved reliable and dependable and a friendship blossomed. BATEK has been a reliable service for 3 years during which time Ben has served in several different capacities. He has demonstrated great versatility as he has adapted to different rolls when required. Some of the positions he has held are: Bookings Manager, Quality Assurance, IT Support and 3rd Party Locator. As Bookings Manager he was responsible to contact customers in order to arrange and schedule work appointments for 8 of our franchisees to facilitate the most efficient use of their time on a day by day basis. This process required excellent person to person skills as well as a high level of computer skills using both our custom and commercial software. Quality Assurance required careful assessment of the accuracy and quality of reports by franchisees. This required a high level of knowledge of furniture damage issues and repair methodology as well as good written and communication skills. Ben was extremely competent in this roll. Ben has a broad knowledge of the computer and IT environment. He is skilled in computer repair as well as understanding general hardware and software. Ben is able to master new software in quick time and has been very valuable in our business in completing projects that others did not have the skill to manage. Often our business had a need to source repairers from outside our own network. The roll of a 3rd Party Locator was to locate and negotiate with repairers and to determine their capability to do the work required. Ben filled this roll with excellent success. Resourcefulness and person to person communication skill were essential for this roll. I can highly recommend Ben for any roll that encompasses any of the above skills.

My Story

Hi, my name is Ben and I created BATEK Services after seeing a gap in the market of off-site administration services, primarily in the Sole Trader and Small Business sector. For the last three and a half years, I have worked in the Furniture Repair industry in an administration role being privy to many facets of the business. Working day to day alongside many repairers, technicians, cleaners and businesses, I was able to see their structures, strengths and weaknesses, but mainly, I saw a passion to succeed in all of them. However, there was always an issue that I could see repeating itself and it affected about 9 out of 10 people every time.

The issue you ask?

It was time! These guys and gals didn’t have enough hours in the day to be doing repairs, answering calls, booking jobs, responding to emails, etc, etc. Instead, they were delaying up to a days work so they can play catch up and even then, sometimes a day was just not enough! This was the driving force I needed to come up with a plan to help as many people as I can, utilising the skills I have gained over my years of employment. Prior to working in the furniture repair field, I started out as an IT nerd doing odd jobs here and there until I got into IT support in the accounting industry. Somewhere along the line, I traded my keyboard for a calculator and I managed a Tax Practice for 12 long years learning a plethora of skills that put me on a path to where I am today. My goal for BATEK Services is to provide booking service options for long term and casual demand utilising various types of software based on the clients needs. Incorporating appointment setting, based geographically for time and travel optimisation, therefore reducing the clients on-road time and travel expenses. Administrative support is offered for dealing with customer queries and quotes via phone and email, also the many other minor but detrimental tasks. Another option we have on offer is the creation of a customer database on behalf of the client for effective after sales marketing that is sure to help your business grow.
